Dad

Sorry it has taken me so long to update ya’ll...I have come home from the hospital every day this week and crashed at about 5p!! Anyway, the roller coaster ride continued this week, but we have had more ups than downs. He has been a little alert every day, and some more than others. Yesterday was his most alert ever. They had him up in his chair and he was looking around and trying desperately to tell us something, but couldn’t because of his trake. Some times he mouths words than you can understand. His smile is the most wonderful thing I have seen. Yesterday, we had to again tell him where he was and why he was there.....we think he was freaking out a bit cause he may have thought he was in a nursing home and not a hospital. He is still going through dialysis, but Wednesday, he had gone a lot on his own, which was a relief to all of us, even his kidney doctor. He was off his insulin drip and yesterday, they did an ultrasound on him for placement of a feeding tube, something that his doctor said would be like the trake, temporary, but would help him get better faster. He is currently being fed through a tube in his nose, which is driving him crazy. The best news out of all of that is, that once they do that, he will move out of the CVICU and into a regular room!

I am doing fine. Still job hunting.
